Backyard Birds

… and more!

Since we’ve all been spending more time at home because of the quarantine, I’ve been concentrating a little more on my backyard bird photography.

Getting truly candid shots that are not mundane takes a lot of patience. The payoff, however, is always worth it!

Now, more than simply getting the occasional entertaining shot, I have been actually getting to know the birds on a more personal level. I have always picked up on their individual personalities from afar, but being more focused now results in me being much more observant.

It is always such a pleasure watching animals in nature, even if it is just your own backyard. You can see so much by simply taking the time to observe. It’s unfortunate that we miss so much in our daily routines and busy lives.

It’s so easy… all you have to do is look!

What have you seen in your own backyard lately?

North American Cardinal

This interesting little guy is shy and hard to photograph. In this particular series of shots, you will notice a little spurious projection at the top of his head.

At first, I had no idea what this was. I thought it might be a growth. However, when zooming in close, I was able to determine it was just a spider web with debris that had stuck to him. 🙂

Still, it made for some interesting photos!

Other backyard personalities

I am including a few pictures of some other backyard creatures with a lot of personality!

Get some fresh air and explore your own backyard, side yard, or if you are in an apartment, just look at your windows to see what you can see!
